Making my training entertainment list

So I've technically officially started my training. I'm going to try to keep a running tally of training hours on here, we'll see how it goes. Still haven't closed on a coach, hopefully later this week. I've also got a TODO to fix this website so that it works with blog readers properly (I think the RSS isn't quite right).

Anyway, last year I spent lots of time on the Computrainer. This winter holds as least as much of that time, and probably more. One of my regular things to do last year was to watch at least a half of a football game each Sunday on the trainer. I'd do what I called "football intervals". See, I've observed that when you do intervals, the time between intervals goes by really fast, and the time in the interval goes really slow. I discovered a way to use that to my advantage. During the game play, I'll crank along at a normal pace, basically one that I can do without focusing on it. Low Zone 3 somewhere. During the commercials, I'd crank it up into Zone 4. Commercials are usually 4 minutes long, so that's a solid interval. Doing it this way really helps make the time go by faster. It also helps with, you know, numbness because you mix it up a bit which tends to help.

The other thing I do is spin through the guide for HBO HD once every two weeks or so and record random movies and watch them on the trainer. This year I've got cycling.tv as well.

So this year I think I'm going to get a Netflix subscription so that I can crank through some other stuff that I've been meaning to watch. I also note that Netflix is now carrying some of the Tour de France disk sets, so that's good.

I'd like to catch up on some series, so here's my list right now, in no particular order. What's nice about series is that the 1-hour blocks line up well with training routines.

Suggestions welcome.

1) Soprano's: I watched Season 1 quite a while ago. Lots of stuff there.

2) Battlestar Galactica. Normally I wouldn't be into this sort of thing (really!) but my step-brother talked me into watching the mini-series last year. Erica constantly raves about it so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's actually pretty cool. Plus the new Cylons are much easier to look at than the old-style ones. In any case, people do dig this show.

3) Not sure what to do here. Entourage? Deadwood? Six Feet Under? Jenna Jamison's Yoga-for-Dummies?

Hmmmm...
