The coolest hotel in the world

There was a bit of a scheduling snafu so we ended up at The Standard Hotel in Hollywood. It's a very trendy but minimalist place on the Sunset Strip. Actually it's one of those places that reinforces the idea that no matter how hip you think you are, well, you're not. For example, when you walk into the lobby in the evening, there is a plexiglass box/room/area up behind the reception desk. Think of the aquarium you see in many places, except instead of fish and coral there's a young woman sitting on pillows reading a book, wearing boxer shorts and a tank top, all very artsy like. Sometimes she's talking on the phone, doing her nails, or surfing the net (notice the laptop on the lower right corner).

Update: I broke down and snapped a photo of this. I've named it the "Chicquarium":

Anyway, that's not really the cool part. The problem is that the rooms aren't just cool, they are freaking freezing. Several of us are having this issue. We've all played the "up at 3am trying like hell to find a thermostat" game. No such luck. They force you to be cool.
